Our Story

We are a vegan and vegetarian café, restaurant and catering service in the Nordic House in Reykjavík Iceland. We dance in the rhythm of the season's with spices from foraged Icelandic herbs or ones grown in our gardens in harmony with the seductive spices brought from the warmer south. Our menu changes with the cicle of the moon in celebration of the wicca calendar. We respect nature, animals and men alike and do all our food with good intentions.

Our main goal is to combine simple cooking and delicious flavours to introduce a new method of enjoyment, one that does less harm to the environment, our selfs or other sendient beings. But also to give the foraged plants that we love so dearly it´s rightful place as they are often frowned upon and their history of use and medicine long forgotten and unspoken. This makes us even more determined to re-introduce them to your plate with their delicious flavores and benefitial effects on our body and soul. We don´t just make food, we say what we want to say with the food we make.

We search out characterful wines from small producers whose wine-making practices are carried out with love and care and serve Icelandic beers and non-alcoholic drinks from small local suppliers. We offer an array of hand blended teas and plant & spice powders that make nourishing and healing latte drinks.

Sónó has an intimate feel with a great view. It’s cosy and embedded in the Nordic House, with it’s architecture and interior design by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto.
